Gaiam Yoga Kicked My Ass in 10 Minutes.
A few weeks ago I purchased a new fitness DVD, Gaiam’s 5 Day Fit Weightloss Yoga, and yesterday I finally put it in my dvd player and did it! I honestly forgot I purchased it! I love everything Gaiam, my yoga mat is a pretty purple with a lotus flower design from the same company. My water bottle is from Gaiam. I’m a sucker for anything Gaiam just like I am for anything Starbucks!
After doing Jillian Micheals’ Yoga Meltdown (which I actually really enjoy!) I really didn’t expect the new dvd to be challenging – famous last words.
The Gaiam dvd actually has 5 workouts on it, one for each day, which is why I bought it – I get super super bored of workouts, unfortunately, so this actually works perfectly for people who likely have ADD like myself. Regardless, I couldn’t finish the first workout. Serious. It’s just standard yoga, but it’s a lot of paying attention to the moves and really pushing yourself. I think I did 10 minutes.
Honest. And those ten minutes? They made me sore. I am totally feeling the pain today, especially in my legs where I’m not very flexible and probably stretched my muscles out too far and now they are achy!
My favourite part about working out is the ache.
I’m not kidding about that either. If I’m working out, I want to feel that something is happening, I like the feeling of a new muscle in my thigh that I didn’t even know existed. Not pain though, please remember if you’re feeling pain, that’s not right. But a satisfying ache? Perfect.
Do I sound sick? Maybe a little.

ps. What’s your favourite workout to do? Yoga, running, zumba?
pps. Do you like dvds at home, fitness classes, or gym workouts best?

I share in your love for the ache after a workout! I might just have to check out that video you mentioned!
I did the Couch to 5K awhile ago and have been slacking in the running department but plan to get back at it! I love running outdoors (I can't stand treadmills!) and working out at the gym. With that being said, I really do need to put my Wii Fit to good use! For some exercises, like yoga or pilates, I prefer watching a dvd in my own home!

Gym workouts, for sure, but I WISH I were able to run outside. I'd save soo much money and it would be liberating to not have to operate on a gym's schedule!

For the first time in my life I began an at home workout. I just started Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred yesterday and I had to really push myself to do it today because I am so sore. I'm curious to see my results after it's over.

The 5 Day Fit Weightless Yoga sounds interesting. I like how there's a different routine for each day. Right now I am really into Pilates and I just it at home. I would much rather do a fitness class but I have no money for it so I will settle for Pilates at home and running on the treadmill and lifting weights at my condo gym. I wish I went down to the gym more often because I found I lost more fat and tone up more when I was running.

I love love love that ache, that feeling the next day where you can barely walk up the stair or giggling hurts… those are major bonuses of your body telling you that you really kicked it hard during your workout yesterday. If I don't feel those I am not impressed with the work I put in.
I don't know what I like lately… I really can't get motivated if I am not in a class setting… not sure why but I don't. But Dr. Oz says that putting in those 10K steps in makes a huge deal in your weightloss… my goal to actually jog the walk I like to do. I don't know how you do it, I couldn't get motivated at home if you payed me to do it.

Oh crazy! I love that achey “I'm working!” feeling too – I just need to find a way to get that more regularly! I have a hot yoga gift card but I'm kind of scared to use it….

I have a tendency to push myself really hard when I workout so I feel like I'm actually doing something! I recently bought a Jillian Michaels DVD too but from all I've heard around the blogosphere I'm slightly terrified to bust it out of its packaging!

It's terrifying but amazing how that woman can annoy the shit out of me but
work me out hard. It's like therapy. I'm swearing at her, sweating, hurting
- but in the end it's awesome!

I love yoga classes in a studio. Why? Because other people motivate me and I get inspired by the breathing around me.
