I thought today was Saturday.
It’s true. I’ve been reminding myself all day that it is actually Thursday and not Saturday. I keep making plans for tomorrow (in my mind, that would be SUNDAY) to go to the Farmer’s Market and buy some doughnuts – and then, oh yeah, it’s Thursday. Vacation mode at it’s finest. My mind is slowly turning into mush…
I need to get a hair done in the worst way possible. I trimmed it myself, using a fancy technique I picked up years ago when I worked briefly as a hair stylist. But I need some highlights and a blow-dry, and I have no idea how to do this with a baby in tow. (The first time around many of my friends were hairdressers and I would go to their house to get my hair done.) How do you go to a hair salon with a teething baby?? How? (No, he won’t sleep through it, trust me.)
Anyway, I’m running around the Whistler condo, trying to clean it up for the babysitter tonight, while still getting ready and blogging and checking my email – and it’s 1:00 pm. Ha. I’m on vacation! I’m allowed to run around half-naked after noon. If I wasn’t breastfeeding I’d probably be at the pool with a drink in my hand… But that will half to wait until next year!
I finally, finally put in the request for my new tattoo. I’ve been wanting another tattoo for a few years but haven’t found a tattoo artist that I trust enough to do it. I already have two tattoos, one for my daughter, and stars on my lower back, now I need to get one for my son (but where!?) and I’m looking forward to another one that I won’t share as of yet… But I’ve finally found a tattoo artist that I think I can trust!
The past few months something funny has been happening – I would see a girl with an amazing tattoo – on her back, on her arm – and I would ask her where she got it done she would tell me the name Justin in Whistler. Now FOUR different girls with different and amazing tattoos that I’ve asked have all told me the same thing: go see Justin. It is hard to find a tattoo artist that you trust. You have to research to make sure they are firstly your “style”, since all artists have their own style. You have to make sure they are GOOD artists. Some, not all, but some tattoo artists do well with simply copying a picture and tattooing it on, but that’s not an artist. There’s a difference, but we’ll get into that another time.
J just called and informed me that we’re doing a barbecue lunch, so perhaps I should go get dressed and start prepping some food and start thinking “Thursday!”

August 17, 2012 at (306 days ago)Justin in Whistler looks amazing, can’t wait to see/hear more details about the tatt! And I am constantly on, “what day is it?” mode ever since June.

August 17, 2012 at (306 days ago)I’ve been thinking all week that it’s a different day.
And your reason for not being able to get your hair done? Yeah. That’s the reason that I scheduled an appointment for a (long overdue) haircut for just before this baby is due
