A Weekend at the Theatre – with the kids!

Last weekend we received complimentary tickets for the fabulous family to check out The Great Big Boo, at the PNE Forum in Vancouver. It gave us a great excuse to bust out the Halloween costumes early – check out my Baby Buzz & my Princess Woody! I wasn’t sure how the show would go, Princess is 6 going on 16 and babies are unpredictable at the best of times, so what was going to happen at the theatre?

Princess had been to a few shows before, but none in a while. She quickly scoped out the selection of ‘souvenirs’ and chose a flashy pumpkin light sabre thing, which she played with through the whole show! And at home for days! Best $10 ever spent? We could have probably just bought her that flashlight and not even seen the show, that’s how involved she was with it.

The baby, on the other hand, LOVED the show. This little munchkin, dressed up as Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story, stuck in our baby carrier, was amazed and couldn’t take his eyes off of the stage! He mumbled and shouted back at the characters, which was hilarious! He is 5.5 months, and I wasn’t sure if he would be scared of the spooky show, the lights and the sounds, but he was genuinely enthralled.

The show itself was a ton of fun. It had a great set, full of colour, and it had some interesting characters, a little spooky but nothing scary! It was a great family show, the songs were fun and had a lot of the crowd dancing and having a great time. I would definitely take our little Prince to see it next year, Princess might come but I think this might be the last year she would actually feign some interest.

Have you taken children to the theatre? How was your experience?
