Here in Canada this past weekend was a long one – known as May 2-4, or simply as Victoria Day weekend. Celebrating Queen Victoria, but more about young kids getting wasted at cottages, braving the cold and watching fireworks – it’s always cold on this long weekend, freezing, freezing cold!
Friday was spent baking a cake with Princess for her Grandma’s birthday on Saturday – it was a Betty Crocker delight! Rainbow cake, double layer, white frosting with rainbow bits in between layers and covered in chocolate frosting. It was then decorated with little scribblers to say ‘Happy Bday Grandma’ and Princess helped do squiggles all over the cake.
Saturday was the MiL’s birthday, we went out to a buffet restaurant for dinner – Tucker’s Marketplace, her choice – which was actually really good. I hadn’t been there for a while and it was surprising to see all the yummy stuff on the menu – like steak! Princess also loves buffets because she gets to walk around and pick everything she likes – like pizza, spaghetti, garlic bread, and mashed potatoes all on one plate! We ate the cake last night which was so sweet but still yummy – I prefer my cakes on the semi-sweet side, but this was Betty Crocker style – beggars can’t be choosers!
Sunday J & I took Princess to Canada’s Wonderland, which is a huge amusement park and one of my personal favourite places to go – I love rollercoasters! We took Princess on two actual rollercoasters and she was so excited but terrified at the same time! I thought for sure we had scared the crap out of her and it would turn out bad, but she simply screamed ‘Again! Again!’ as soon as we were done. My kid’s not a wimp!
Yesterday J took us out for brunch at Marche Movenpick in downtown Toronto, Princess got pizza again and we spent the day at the park and just relaxed. It was a lot of fun, especially ending my night with wings and beer at the pub – it was our final day of eating bad before the big diet we have decided to go on!
Then this morning, on this bright and shiny Tuesday, J & I got in a huge fight, I didn’t go into work with him like I was supposed to, and the sitter just called saying Princess has a bad fever. J thinks it was a blessing in disguise that we fought so I could go get Princess and take care of her today, I think he’s still stupid. I hold grudges sometimes, sshhhhh.
So I’m on my way to go pick up a sick little kid, watch movies with her all day and cuddle.
